Day 65

March1

Simba Playing with his Kickeroo. In the last 3 weeks, this is the happiest I’ve seen this cat. I put the Kickeroo down on the floor, and Simba was all over it. I’ve never seen a cat writhe in such happiness over a toy. He’s even picked it up and carried it around the house.

Today was another trip to the vet. This time a veterinary specialist. She couldn’t find anything wrong with Simba. She gaves some more of the anti-anxiety meds, recommended we switch him to wet food and an watering system that has a pump, and give him some stuff that will make his joints happier. No reason for the “displaying” and peeing on the floor. The only stress he’s had lately was going to the vet.

Day 62

feb26C2011

Simba’s actually finishing up a yawn in this picture, but I like it because he looks like he’s smiling.

After two weeks of being over at R’s, Simba came back over to my place tonight. Simba usually goes to R’s when I travel, but over the course of the last six months, we’ve had to deal with urinary tract infections. That means trips to the vet and since I know R will not take my cat to a crappy vet, he handles the office visits for me so I don’t have to take time off of work (have I mentioned what an awesome boyfriend I have??)

Simba’s getting to be a certain age in cat years where I’ve got to be more careful about what I feed him. Especially since he’s been neutered. So since this is round number two of UTI goodness, Simba’s got a permanent diet change and can only drink bottled water for the rest of his kitty life. He’s also currently taking antibiotics and anti-anxiety meds.

Anti-anxiety meds lead to looks like this:

This is Simba’s Stoner Look. It says “okay, you’re taking a picture of me again and I don’t give a rat’s patootie about that.”

And it eventually leads to this look:

This look says “Do whatever you want lady. I’m going back to my nap on the corner of your bed.”

Day 10

Jan52011

Simba usurping my position. He’s taken over the office chair and is partially covered by my sweater. This means no more computer time for me.
